NEW PHOTO BEHIND THE LOGO
DREAMING OF THE OSAKA SUN
Many of you may be aware that I applied to the JET Program in November. In February I was interviewed, and was prepared to leave for Japan in August to teach English for a year. It was an exciting prospect that seemed like a valuable learning experience and opportunity for growth and discovery.
After a suspenseful wait, I must report that I was not accepted to the program. While that hangs in the air for a moment, have a look at this photo I took. I think it makes a nifty phone background for spring. Feel free to pull it from Flickr.
I have a lot of thinking to do about my future. It’s not that I’m so concerned, but rather overwhelmed with potential. I feel like I’m approaching a position where all options are open to me. More so than ever before, I can truly create the future I want to see for myself, and I’m slowly building up the guts to do it.
I know photography will fit in there somewhere. I also know that I have to help people in some meaningful way. I know I have to travel more. Add those things up, and it sounds pretty exciting.
So I didn’t get into the JET Program. That’s ok. Japan will wait for me. I’ll get there someday. But now, I’m too excited about what’s next to stop and look back for much.
